Remote control (SSH) IoT and Linux devices

Even after deploying products to production, we need to have a proper way to control and debug the product through the device terminal (remote SSH) in case of an issue we would like to debug the running application and solve it quickly as possible. Here are a few usual cases to use remote control tool: 
 

Debug product issue - an issue that may occur on a specific device and require to debug the running product remotely.

Update product configuration file - In case you would like to change a specific file on a specific device.

Support a product - running specific applications through the device terminal to understand the problem 

Here at Upswift.io we provide an easy to use and secure method to remotely control (SSH) the device terminal from anywhere in the world through a secure web-based mechanism that is responsible for opening a dynamic remote one-time session to the product terminal.

Remote (SSH) control example

Here is an example of opening a secure remote control session to embedded Linux devices.

STEP 1

First, make sure you have a connected device at Upswift.io platform and then click on the 'Devices' category.

STEP 2

Next, we would click on the remote control button under the specific device row.

STEP 3

Next, A popup will arise, you will notice a ‘Secret Key’ string and a timer going down. Click on ‘Copy to clipboard’ and wait until the timer gets to zero. A link will appear with the text “Open Remote Control’ — click on that link.

STEP 4

A new window will be opened with a place to enter the Secret Key you copied in the previous step. Paste the Secret Key there and click on ‘Connect’.

STEP 5

An SSH session will open in your browser. You can now have full remote access to your product.
